TANEXPO 2022, International Funeral and Cemetery Exhibition, closes its doors with a positive outcome. The world's leading event for visitors and exhibit areas was held at BolognaFiere from 22 to 24 June.
The exhibition celebrated its 30th anniversary welcoming on show over 200 exhibitors - 30% international - including companies and international trade associations, and 9,200 professional visitors.
A three-day event in which Italian and international funeral homes, companies and institutions met to talk about strategies, innovations, trends, technologies, and skills of a market with a turnover in Italy of around 2 billion euros.
To celebrate this important anniversary, the show launched the TANEXPO AWARDS contest to award the most avant-garde and worthy projects, evaluated by a jury of international experts. Here are the winners in the five categories:
Innovation: PRIMA BOTTEGA for its skills in innovating the tradition,
Quality and Design: ROTASTYLE for the unique style in transmitting emotions on wood,
Communication: MEMORYBOOK for the accessibility of the project,
Green Sustainability: SCACF for the concrete commitment of the company and for the "Legno is Green" project,
Best Stand Experience: INFORTUNISTICA TOSSANI for its expertise in transmitting the company's values.
During the show it took place the contemporary art exhibition "No Time to Die" by Danilo Sciorilli, curated by Giacinto di Pietrantonio and created in collaboration with R&P Contemporary Art Società Benefit.
NUMBERS AND TRENDS
Not only the most prestigious showcase for Italian and international suppliers, TANEXPO is also the hub where to exchange ideas and keep updated on the industry, thanks to the training workshops organized in collaboration with Scuola Superiore di Formazione per la Funeraria.
According to the "First Annual Report 2022. The Demand for Funeral Services in Italy", presented by the Istituto Cattaneo of Bologna as part of the activities of ORME, Observatory for Research on Death and Funerals, in the last year 7 out of 10 Italians thought about death at least once, but 69% of these didn’t reflect on how they want their funeral to be like and 58% on how they would like to be buried. Three out of 10 people would like to be cremated, a percentage that reflects the growing national trend of the last 15 years, but with a significant gap between northern and southern Italy, ranging from 82% in Milan to 2.7% in Palermo.
As for the organization of the funeral, 9 out of 10 people turn to a funeral home and in 61% of cases the funeral home is the family’s trusted one: of the latter, 7 out of 10 are satisfied with the service received.
86% of Italians have attended a funeral or a funeral ceremony; 89% of them were celebrated in a church and only 3% in a funeral home; 74% of funerals are attended by less than 100 people, 60% visit the body, 25% are present at coffin closing, 43% are present at the placement of the coffin or at the delivery of the ashes and in 44% of cases the family offers a keepsake to remember the deceased. 64% of Italians visit the cemetery.
